During a veterinary emergency or when your pet goes missing in an area with weak cellular reception, waiting for an SMS OTP or trying to remember a complex password adds unnecessary stress. PetEYE Passkey Security uses the FIDO2 / WebAuthn cryptographic standard so you can sign in to peteye.pet/mypet in under a second using your phone’s FaceID, TouchID, or Android biometric screen lock.
How Passkeys Protect Your Pet’s Data
Unlike traditional passwords that can be phished or reused across websites, a Passkey stores a cryptographic key pair inside your device’s secure hardware enclave (Apple iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager, or Windows Hello). Your biometric fingerprint or face scan never leaves your phone.
Step 1: Navigate to Passkey Security in Settings
- Log in to your account at peteye.pet/mypet.
- Open your pet’s profile and tap the Settings gear icon.
- Select Passkey Security (or Privacy & Security) to open the Passkey Management modal.
Step 2: Register a New Passkey on Your Phone or Laptop
- Inside the Passkey modal, tap the Add Passkey button.
- Your browser (Safari, Chrome, Edge, or Brave) will display a native system prompt asking to save a passkey for
peteye.pet. - Authenticate using your device’s built-in biometric sensor (FaceID, TouchID, Android fingerprint, or device PIN).
- Once verified, your device appears immediately in your active Passkeys list with a smartphone or laptop icon and registration timestamp.
Step 3: Sign In Instantly Using Your Passkey
- Next time you visit the PetEYE login page, tap Sign in with Passkey.
- Confirm with a quick glance at FaceID or a touch of your fingerprint sensor.
- You are signed straight into your dashboard without typing a password or waiting for a text message.
Step 4: Auditing & Removing Old Devices
If you upgrade your phone or sign in on a shared family computer, you can review every authorized passkey inside Settings -> Passkey Security. Tap the delete trash icon next to any device to revoke its cryptographic credential immediately.
