When a dog or cat goes missing, the first 60 minutes are critical. The PetEYE Report Lost Wizard converts your pet’s everyday digital profile into an active emergency broadcast, enabling live GPS scan alerts, privacy-masked finder messaging, and one-tap WhatsApp rescue posters.
Step 1: Trigger Lost Mode from Your Pet Profile
- Sign in to peteye.pet/mypet and select the pet that is missing.
- On the Overview screen, tap the Lost Companion alert button (or launch the 5-Step Report Lost Wizard from the NFC & Lost/Found menu).
Step 2: Complete the 5-Step Report Lost Wizard
The wizard walks you through five structured verification screens so rescuers have accurate, actionable information:
- Step 1 (Your Info): Confirm which emergency contact numbers and masked relay channels should receive instant alerts.
- Step 2 (Pet Info): Review your pet’s breed, gender, age, weight, collar color, and critical medical or behavioral notes (for example, "Friendly but scared of loud trucks" or "Requires daily epilepsy medication").
- Step 3 (Photos): Confirm your pet’s primary portrait and 4-angle identification photos so strangers can recognize them from any angle.
- Step 4 (Last Seen Location): Tap Use Current Location to lock GPS coordinates or enter the exact street landmark and time last seen.
- Step 5 (Verify OTP): Enter the security OTP sent to your registered mobile number to activate Lost Mode across the PetEYE network.
Step 3: Share the Auto-Generated WhatsApp Rescue Card
As soon as Lost Mode is active, PetEYE generates a high-contrast Lost Pet Share Card along with a public recovery link (complete with Open Graph preview images for WhatsApp, Instagram, and Telegram):
- Tap Download Poster or Share on WhatsApp inside the Companion modal.
- Post the link in your apartment RWA group, neighborhood dog-walker groups, and local veterinary clinic boards.
- Anyone opening the link sees your pet’s live Lost Banner, last-seen landmark, and a direct button to contact you or share a sighting.
Step 4: Track Live QR/NFC Tag Scans & Use Anonymous Finder Chat
When a Good Samaritan taps their phone on your pet’s NFC collar tag or scans the QR code:
- Emergency Public View: Their browser immediately displays a high-priority red "I Am Lost" banner with your pet’s medical warnings and recovery instructions.
- Live GPS Ping: If the finder grants browser location permission, the exact scan coordinates are pushed to your Scanned History & Live Map inside PetEYE MyPet.
- Anonymous Lost Pet Chat: The finder can send you text messages and upload a live photo of your pet directly through the browser chat widget (no app install or login required for the finder). You can reply in real time from your Owner Chat Inbox without exposing your personal phone number to strangers or reward scammers.
Step 5: Mark Your Pet as Found (or Void a Stolen Tag)
- Once Reunited: Open the Lost Companion modal in PetEYE MyPet and tap Mark as Found. Your public profile immediately reverts to standard privacy mode and closes active finder chat sessions.
- If Only the Collar Tag Was Lost or Stolen: Go to Settings -> Tag Management and click Void Tag twice to permanently deactivate the lost physical tag while keeping your pet’s digital medical profile intact for a replacement tag.
