Every companion animal has two intertwined histories: a biological lineage that shapes their genetic predispositions, adult size, and temperament, and a custodial provenance that records where they were born, how they entered your home, and who holds legal responsibility for their care. Historically, both histories were fragile: paper pedigree charts and NGO adoption slips faded in drawers, and when a fostered or rehomed pet changed hands, their prior vaccination dates and birth records were frequently lost.
PetEYE bridges biological ancestry and legal custody through three connected modules: the interactive Family Tree inside Pet Identity, the dual-tab Origin & Ownership ledger inside Records, and the phone-locked Transfer Ownership (/claim) workflow. Here is how they work together—and how to guide a newly transferred pet through the 3-3-3 decompression rule.
1. Exploring Your Pet's Multi-Generation Biological Family Tree
When you open Overview -> Pet Identity and select Family Tree, PetEYE renders an interactive pedigree map anchored around your pet. Every ancestor, littermate sibling, and offspring node with an active PetEYE profile is clickable, opening their public profile (/petinfo/<ID>) in a new tab.
The 4 Structural Layers of the PetEYE Family Tree
| Generation Tier | Exact UI Labels in Family Tree | Clinical & Registry Value |
|---|---|---|
| Gen +2: Grandparents • 4 (Ancestry) | Paternal Grandsire (Father's Father ♂), Paternal Granddam (Father's Mother ♀), Maternal Grandsire (Mother's Father ♂), Maternal Granddam (Mother's Mother ♀) | Identifies multi-generational longevity, KCI registration numbers, memorial status (🕊️), and recessive hereditary traits across paternal and maternal lines. |
| Gen +1: Parents | Sire (Father) (Direct Paternal Parent ♂) & Dam (Mother) (Direct Maternal Parent ♀) | Links directly to the biological father and mother's health profiles, breed confirmations, and orthopedic or cardiac screening history. |
| Anchor: ★ CURRENT PET ★ & Siblings | ★ CURRENT PET ★ card + Brothers & Sisters (Littermates) horizontal strip | Connects you with littermates from the same birth cohort—ideal for spotting shared litter allergies or celebrating litter birthdays. |
| Gen -1: Children (Descendants) | Children • N (Descendants) grid showing sex, breed & with <Other Parent> link | Tracks progeny registered through The Kennel alongside clickable links to the co-parenting sire or dam. |
The Kennel Verified vs. Self-Declared Lineage Badges
- The Kennel Verified (Blue Checkmark Badge): Issued automatically when litter, sire, and dam breeding records are officially registered and verified through The Kennel ecosystem.
- Self-Declared Lineage (Amber Badge): Displayed when parent names and birth details are manually recorded by the pet parent inside Origin & Ownership without third-party kennel attestation.
2. Recording Provenance in Records -> Origin & Ownership
Whether you adopted an Indian Indie puppy from a rescue shelter or brought home a purebred kitten, documenting their earliest milestones builds a permanent foundation. Open Records -> Origin & Ownership to access the Birth Origin & Legal Acquisition Ledger:
- 🤝 Acquisition Ledger (Tab 1): Log the Acquired Date, choose the Origin Classification (
Licensed Breeder,Rescue Shelter,Non-Profit NGO,Friends or Family,Private / Direct, orOther Origin), enter the Source Name, Acquisition Cost (₹), and Source Contact Details. Upload your signed Acquisition Contract / Receipt or tap 📜 Self-Declared Certificate. - 🐣 Origin & Birth (Tab 2): Record Place of Birth, Birth Weight (e.g., "350 grams"), Pet Father Name, Pet Mother's Name, and Organization Name, and upload an official Birth Certificate (PDF, PNG, JPG, or WEBP up to 15 MB).
Tapping Save Origin & Ownership populates your pet's Self-Declared Lineage nodes and stamps the acquisition event onto their Pet Life Timeline.
3. Permanent Pet Reassignment: How Transfer Ownership (/claim) Works
When a foster parent hands over a rescued pet to an adopter, or a breeder transfers a puppy to its forever home, tapping Transfer Ownership inside Pet Identity launches the Permanent Pet Reassignment modal:
- Recipient Mobile Verification: Enter the adopter's 10-digit Indian mobile number under New Owner Mobile Number (+91). For security, only the account authenticated with this exact phone number can accept and claim the pet.
- Generate & Share the One-Time Claim Link: Review the Irrevocable Transfer notice and tap Generate Transfer Link, then copy the
/claim/<token>URL or tap Share via WhatsApp. - Atomic Handover: When the recipient opens the link, logs in with their verified
+91number, and taps Accept Ownership on the Pet Ownership Transfer screen, all medical records, digital ID credentials, smart tag access, and Ownership Ledger history transfer immediately.
4. After the Handover: The 3-3-3 Decompression Rule
The 3-3-3 Adjustment Timeline for Adopted & Rehomed Pets:
• First 3 Days (Cortisol Detox): Expect overwhelm, hiding, or reduced appetite. Provide a quiet safe zone, skip houseguests, and keep the PetEYE smart tag collar fitted at all times.
• First 3 Weeks (Routine Mapping): Cortisol normalizes as the pet learns meal schedules, walk routes, and household boundaries; log emerging triggers in Records -> Behavior & Traits.
• First 3 Months (Secure Attachment): Full trust and bond consolidation with their new Pet Circle family.
